I posted "Basic Questions" with great reservation as I expected experienced 
net-people would find them trivial.  However, the questions were well-meaning
and, as hard as it may be to believe, I really didn't know the answers. I 
tried other sources first, but there are only about 2 or 3 other news users
that I know of on this site, and compared to some of them, I'm an expert! 
As a VMS programmer, my entire unix/Sun library is a Sunlink DNI User's
Guide; there isn't a unix machine in this entire building!  I guess I'm 
crawling for forgiveness, but on the whole the posting was worth the 
animosity (flames?) as I recieved many mailings and postings, all of which I
read with great interest.  I'm not an expert yet, but I made progress thanx
to them.  Some of us have site training, other take what they can get...
