The problem is that Larry considered rn's behaviour to be a feature too. We had this discussion 2 years ago, but nothing came of it. These two basic bits of news software are incompatible in regard to new group creation, and have been so for several years. I wish the news guru's could agree on the small change to fix this, and include it in the next patch to one or both.
