False dichotomy!  SunView has been rewritten on top of X-Windows in a product
called XView.  It defaults to the Open Look user interface specifications.
The programming syntax is near identical to SunView with some simplifications
and additions of new graphics objects.
The beta version works and who knows when Sun/AT&T will ship it.
