I also want to know just what you are going to measure with this number? A much simplier approach would be to use awk to strip out what you don't want and pipe to wc. Then again, a much simplier way to measure code size with equally worthwhile scientific precision is to just measure the thinkness of your printouts with a ruler :-) George W.
