is anybody out there using/knowing-about/fond-of/etc the Weitek XL-8000
chip-set?

i've just got the manual set.  what a fascinating device!  i've been using
dsps and transputers for a while, which are like boxes inside which computation
happens.  this guy is more like a naked fpu with two giant gaping mouths 
inhaling instructions and operands.  and yet i guess you could compile onto it.
charming!  kind of like the 2900 stuff extended beyond the extreme.
