Frankly, I'm in the other camp with respect to products like the Sharebase servers. I think they're a great idea. I also think that there's a difference: Sharebase doesn't pretend (I don't think) that they sell a full fledged OS, and oh yeah, it has DB built in. They sell a database hardware platform, which is much more honest. Tandem leans more in this direction also, although not quite as cleanly. With respect to DEC, I think they're just waving their hands around.
