Using a bog-standard Hayes 1200, sometimes a new connection produces a
state wherby the RD light flashes on at about one Hz, and usually "{"
appears on the display, or other related garbage. This is usually
cured by powering it off/on once or twice.
Is this a bad line connection, a fault in my particular modem, or
a well-known Hayes hardware bug?
