i agree that Turbo C is the best buy except maybe for the graphics
and direct screen writng routines.
Graphics: is not fast enough and lacks such things as put a dot in XOR
etc. mode, so moveing a cross is a small problem.
Direct screen writing des not  write instantly as do the routines
from turbo pascal for instance.
but all in all to work with succh a programing environment is
a real pleasure. do not forget the in line language help!!!
