Due to the LARGE number of responses I got to my question, "what is the
call-to-call fate of FORTRAN subroutine local vars, I decided to post
a collective thanks!  You can stop sending now, I have the answer; this
is the most responsive newsgroup to which I have ever posted a question
(comp.lang.fortran).   Thanks again.
