Summary: later SUPRA systems (with fan?) work. Vanilla ST MINIX will access first 4 partitions Message-ID: <754@lzaz.ATT.COM> Date: 25 Aug 89 12:16:46 GMT References: <458@nixpbe.UUCP> Organization: AT&T ISL Lincroft NJ USA Lines: 30 > >> Do you know if vanilla MINIX on an ST handles SUPRA hard disk drives > >> correctly? You might want to look at that. > >So long. > > There seems to be three vintages of SUPRA. The OLD ones never seemed to run MINIX (That is to say there were interrupt problems). The INTERMEDIATE ones seemed to require a change in the MINIX driver to change timing. Supra supplied the changes and they were posted long ago. The NEWER ones (with fan) and definitely with a DMA out connector seem to work OK. Supra can describe 12 partitions on a disk, Standard Atari (and MINIX) do only 4. As Supra uses the same first 4, it is compatible. ONLY you cannot access the remaining 8 partitions. I posted a while back a simple change to stwini.c that will deal with all 12 partitions.
