The *SERIAL* ports on the A2000 and A500 are the same pinouts as on the 
A1000. Only the gender of the DB25 connector was changed.
 
I got a small (12") 25-conductor ribbon cable, two male and two female
DB25 connectors at radio shack.  Hooked them all together and can now
solve all kinds of gender mis-matches!
 
----- WARNING -----  The *PARALLEL* port pinout changed significantly!
DON'T try this on that port!!!!!!!
