Anyone care to make a suggestion as to which brand name to purchase? I have $800-$1000 bucks to allocate toward the thing. Incase anyone is interested, I'm going to be using the Amiga to aquire data from a 12 bit, 16 channel multi-plexed A-to-D board which monitors the drilling of an oil well in real-time (pump storkes, pump pressure, pit levels, hook load, weight on drill bit, weight on the drill-string (many pieces of drill-pipe connected, of course), chormatic gas analysis (chromatigraph and HP Integrator), etc. In other words, tons of external, analog events :). Anywho, I would also like your opinion on the system that I have spec'ed for the job (Not that I can think for myself, but I think many minds in motion are better than one) : - Amiga 2500. - 2nd internal floppy. - 1080 monitor. - ASDG dual-serial card (for real-time data xmit to an on-shore data aquisition center. - ASDG ISBX card. Haven't locked down which A/D card to use, yet, but I'm looking; any suggestions appreciated. Also, I'm thinking about replacing the the 2000' HD with a Quantum 80s. Anyone think that this drive will have any problems in this situation? That is, you have never been shaken until you've been on a drilling platform :) I'm also in the market for a decent HD back-up system; probably going to go with a decent sized streamer or the new Panasonic 11 meg SCSI.
