I like to use ".bsc"; it seems to be the closest to being pronouncable. ".bin" would be nicer, if it weren't for the fact that it would be hopelessly confused with the "BIN" filetype. Other personal "standards" are: .bsc ==> Binscii .asc ==> ASCII (used primarily differentiate from Binscii) .exe ==> EXECable text file (Executioner format, for example) .doc ==> Documentation or general text file .txt ==> Same as ".doc"; which I use depends on moon phase more than anything .bny ==> Binary ][ .bqy ==> Squeezed Binary ][ .shk ==> ShrinkIt Those are what I use when uploading to local BBSs, anyway. I think they're pretty self-explanatory, though they may give newcomers to the Apple ][ world fits (especially ".exe", if the newcomer came from MS-DOS! :-) /-----------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | It doesn't matter what temperature a room is; | Steve King (312) 991-8056 | | it's always room temperature. | ...uunet!motcid!king | | | ...ddsw1!palnet!stevek | \-----------------------------------------------------------------------------/
