I have been planning to buy a harddisk for some time, and now I have been offered by a friend of a friend of a friend ...... a package which seems to me to be a real bargain. Unfortunately I know very little about harddisks, controllers, hdisk software etc. I have been offered: (copy part of letter received) - Harddisk software -Shinwa 30MB HD, RLL excl. controller -OMTI 5527 XT harddisk controller, 2 x ST506/RLL My questions are, has anybody heard of a Shinwa harddisk, what is a OMTI 5527 XT controller, what does ' 2 x ST506/RLL ' mean, and last but not least, is there any good public domain software available, preferably on the terminator or panarthea archive, for this kind of driver/controller since I do not put too much trust in something specified only as ' Harddisk software' Any reply will be greatly appreciated. Thanks ! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Jos H.
