If your DOS compatibility box hangs randomly, you probably have an older 286
chip - early releases of this chip, as I was told, had a timing problem when
switching modes.  Later releases cleared this problem, and supposedly the 
problem was never present in '386's.  (Therefore, you shouldn't have this 
problem on a '386.)
