Specifically, when using 'vi' on a UNIX host, the last character gets erased from the screen when I press 'ESC' after entering text. It's not actually gone, however, if you do a screen redraw (CTRL-L), the last character reappears. Also, when I move around the screen a la (h,j,k,l), 'h' seems to erase the characters from the screen where 'l' would rewrite them.
