Some of us with the 80 MB HD's seem be having a new type of problem. Me, as well as some of my friends are having problems (at times) booting the computer. This has happened five/six times to me, and I have had to replace the system atleast twice. The problem is a little difficult to explain as it seems to be random. I turn the computer on and it seems to "want" to boot. The light flashes for awhile and then just fades away leaving just the unwanted '?' mark on the screen. If I put a system disk on the drive the computer boots okay, but the icon for the internal HD does not appear on the screen. I have tried to mount it, but it produced no result. One time I tried to reset the PRAM. That also did nothing. But when I tried it the following morning, it seemed to 'reset' the PRAM. My friend (who had problems with the 80 MB HD's on the SE/30 and IIcx) took his computer to the dealer, but was unable to replicate it. I have saved the 'bad' system when it happened the second time. I have tried to see it using ResEdit but that produces a system error. I can however see the contents of the resource data using Fedit --- the 'system' does not look like a 'system.' It seems to have text in it, which I haven't seen in system files before. If anyone has any information on the matter, please drop in a line. We response would be appreciated.
