Somewhat perplexed... *-[:-( I had this same problem, and I finally got an answer out of Sun for it. The trick is to remove the line: define (LOGHOST, 1) from /etc/syslogd.conf -- yes, the same one you had to put in for 4.0 to solve the infinite loop problem.
