I don't read this newsgroup regularly, but I was in such a big trouble that I decided to post this in this newsgroup in search of help... I'm a longtime user of unix systems, but I just encountered some weird thing just now, and I hope that someone could help me out. I had all my old data files compressed and kept in a subdirectory for a few months. I tried to uncompress them this morning, and to my surprise, I got garbage and nothing readable!! On top of that, the core was dumped! Holy cow!! Could anybody out there in the net help me!? Thanks, --Shin-- ************************************ * From: Shin "AstroBoy" Kurokawa * * shin@oddjob.uchicago.edu * * 5640 S.Ellis Ave * * Dept.of Astronomy & * * Astrophysics * * Chicago, IL 60637 * ************************************
