Recently, we moved one machine to a different subnet and now get the following message when mounting filesystems from the other machines (on the other subnet): Warning: cannot bind to privileged port: Can't assign requested address However, the mount works and the data transfers are fine. The message is symmetric: Each machine gets the warning when mounting a filesystem from a machine on the other subnet. Is this a known bug in Ultrix NFS or is it something I am doing wrong? I have the following /etc/fstab entries: /@epb1:/epb1:rw:0:0:nfs:rsize=1024,wsize=1024,bg,soft,retry=1: /users@epb1:/epb1/users:rw:0:0:nfs:rsize=1024,wsize=1024,bg,soft,retry=1: /@epb3:/epb3:rw:0:0:nfs:bg,soft,retry=1: /users@epb3:/epb3/users:rw:0:0:nfs:bg,soft,retry=1: etc... We had to reduce the buffer size when going across the subnets because of some inherent deficiencies in the Vaxstations (II and 2000) in handling back-to-back packets that happen when the router is busy and bunches packets together. But, even before changing the buffer sizes we were getting the warnings. Any help/pointers are greatly appreciated. _____________________________________ Brian V.
