arf casually dismisses all scientists who receive government funding,
and equally casually dismisses the entire science of epidemiology.

I have a swell idea:  arf should work for the Tobacco Institute!

Not only are they not (directly) funded by the government, but they've
also made an art out of ignoring epidemiology.

arf and Phillip Morris- a match made in heaven.
