Most of the time when this has come up, the parents already knew or strongly suspected, but would not raise the matter thinking that their child did not want it raised. So it becom es a round-robbin. The HIV+ client said nothing not wanting to chance rejectio n, and the parents said nothing not wanting to raise, for them, a difficult sub ject and generally not wanting to chance some trouble. It becomes a mutual con spiracy of silence. Again, from what I have seen, everyone is usually much rel ieved when it all come out in the open. But you will have to take the initiati ve, I have never know the parents to do so. It is always chancy but who knows your folks better than you do? Good Luck.
