I am interested in comparing the performance of other supervised learning algorithms, vis-a-vis backpropagation. I am using backprop for what is essentially a pattern recognition problem. The network should be able to generalize well. The inputs are continuous, but a a one hidden layer net seems sufficient. Can some knowledgable netter suggest suitable alternatives, with appropriate references. Has anyone done similar work before? Please email your responses to vaidyana@lips.ecn.purdue.edu or vaidyana@cb.ecn.purdue.edu I will summarise the responses and post for the benefit of all. Thanks in advance. Vaidya.
