You might look at the shareware program VGACAP. I downloaded it from simtel20.army.mil using ftp. It is in the PD: or PD: directory. It consists of a TSR which saves a raw uimage and palette when a hot key is typed, a program to convert the raw images into GIF files, and a program to show the contents of GIF files. An enhanced version, available for a small fee (approx $30), will generate output on lots of devices, including HPGL.
