Does anyone in netland have a string table manipulation package?  We are
writing a simple data retrieval system and need a package for handling
variable-length strings.  These strings are not transient and must be
available for multiple invocations of the retrieval server.  If anyone
has (freely redistributable) source or pointers to algorithms, I would
greatly appreciate hearing about them.  Thanks in advance,
