These printers are part of a multivendored Unix environment, and we would like to provide a clean, standard, and functional datafile interface. Both printers are direct connected to an MVS system running TCP/IP Software, with lpd extensions, and the ability to interpret lpd control files. The only problem we habe left is to resolve the problem of datafile/PostScript conversion. IBM has a PostScript interpreter for many of their other printers but not currently for the 3800. Xerox has the same type of deal, and generally having any company such as IBM/Xerox develop one for you will cost too much, and not arrive in reasonable time. If anyone out there might know of such a product might be of assistance, or have any generally good suggestions, then, Please feel free, I would _GREATLY_ appreciate it. This whole task has been one MAJOR Pain in the Ass, but could end up providing a very valuble service to our users. Please dont be shy, we are in DESPERATE NEED!! Thanks in advance, Please send Email for replies, Ken. Ken Burgess kburgess@ames.arc.nasa.gov Nasa-Ames Research Center (415)-694-6347
