Given common bcopy/copy{in,out}/usercopy implementations, one would expect dramatic effects from byte-misaligment. So there is now a version of ttcp which allows the base of the buffers to be known and controlled in sgi/src/ttcp.shar via public ftp to sgi.com. The shar file also contains a man-page (hacked at SGI, so all errors are ours). It has been submitted to comp.sources.unix. Anyone care to say publically how many vendors are near or past 1MByte/sec?
