Well, i know the manual says you can as root, my memory is that v6 kernel code and later forbode (forbade?) it, so you got me. My memory is clearly missing some bits. Anyway, on a sunos system, here is a transcript: super# ln bin binxxx bin is a directory super# note that i was running as root. HP-UX, depending on the machine, is not a real unix derivative (i.e. the 500 series). Boy, unix is really losing it fast as a standard ... Sorry for the digression from Unix too. But it should now be clear that we don't want hard links in Amigados???? Personally, i think hard links to directorys are Evil. Read the BSTJ on Unix (1978) for a comment on such things. ron
