I'm not sure if my experiences are directly related but I'll share them
anyway.

I also got a GS/OS system error when running SHRConvert's POM.  And on one
execution it bombed to the monitor.  BUT, this only happened when I
switched the SHRConvert-Finder.Icons it to my Icon dir.!!  AND as soon as I
started getting weird problems a little bell went off in my head and Dave's
words came back to me, "Don't mess with Sys. 5.0's Icons!"  So I swapped
back and haven't had narry a problem since....

I had several other "transitional" problems when executing other
applications and transitioning back to the Finder.  If you are using
somebody's Finder.Icons (besides Apple's), I suggest you switch back and
see if your problems go way.
