I avoid serial, and I'm on a 64 so burst mode is less than ideal.  The
system runs on IEEE based equipment.

Actually, if I were to patch up the IEEE drivers to work with serial,
the system would work quite nicely with a 1581.

Well, I've done more than one BBS.  This is actually the third
ground-up rewrite....  ;-)
