Under X windows, clearing large areas of the display causes the display to ``shrink'' a little and pop back to normal. For example, when paging forward using texx2, the screen visibly caves in each time I page forward. I checked that it wasn't an illusion by obscuring the section of the display that changes and repeating - sure enough, the borders move slightly towards the center. This is a strain on my eyes over a long period of time - have others noticed this, and if so, have you found a solution?
