If you can't FTP around on the networks, you may want to use your modem and call up the "world's only Fido V12 BBS running on a DEC Rainbow." Whether or not Fido or the statement makes any difference to you, what the BBS has on-line is what's important. The BBS is "The Hitchhiker's Guide" (yes, as in the book, TV show, radio series...). The machine is a Rainbow 100+ running a 67Mb hard disk and supports 1200 and 2400 baud modems (8 bit, no parity, 1 stop bit). It's up 24 hours a day and it's free. It's almost exclusively a Rainbow software board, but it does sport IBM PC software. Call 1-315-589-7361. The Sysop is Fritz Howard. Say hi and tell him I sent you. "The Guide" is one of the largest Rainbow BBSs anywhere in the world that's still up and running. (I am receiving no money for this announcement. ;-) By the way, as far as editors go, Brief is the best editor available on the Rainbow... of course, you have to be running Suitable Solutions' Rainbow MS-DOS V3.10B and Code Blue V2.01. The latest patches and the IBM Character ROM for the Rainbow are nice additions as well. E-mail me if you want to know more...
