NY, NY Lines: 22 I am not a regular reader of this newsgroup so forgive me if this has been beaten to death already... A friend wishes to know if DBASE (or some other s/w package) can handle this class of problem: His business is legal, he being a lawyer. He wishes to be able to pose to his s/w questions like: LIST records with name=xxxxx and topic=yyyyy and between date1 and date2. FIND string between record1 and recordN. He wishes to be able to scan any set of documents for a given set of strings: FIND string1 or string2 or string3 or (string4 and string5) between record1 and recordn. He really doesn't need access to an existing db system per se. Rather, he is on a complex legal case and has amassed a pile of documents that is a foot thick and growing. He feels its time to organize it better. Soooo..... Can DBASE handle the above? How would you frame this in DBASE? If a better package is around, what is it? Please email me direct....and, THANKS joec@morgan.com
