I know the AT bus is rated at
8MHz...but what is the aggregate
throughput? (MBytes/sec)

Are 8 bits or 16 bits transferred 
in parallel? (Or worse yet - are
they transferred serially?)
Is I/O done byte-by-byte or in
blocks?
