I have been having problems with connecting my IBM proprinter XL24 parallel
port version to my IBM RT running AIX 2.2.1   

Even though the printer supports a quite a few different modes and features 
the printer command and piobe backend are having problems understanding
properly the different command switches.   For example,  the
print -cdp command should put the printer in condensed print (16 cpi) mode.

THis works on 4202 printers, and appears to be ignored for the 4208.  I 
currently have the printer defined as a 4202 as there is no 'devices' command
settings for the 4208 printer.  The only other options for a parallel printer
are as a 4201 or a 5152 printer.   Any suggestions?  OTher print modes
are having problems as well, and are too numerious to go into gory detail 
here.
