My 80M HD in my Mac IIcx has been on the verge of death for several weeks now.
(I don't dare turn it off :-)

I talked to Ga Tech's local PC repair outfit and they have heard of a number of
problems with the 80M HDs.

The story I was told is that Apple is VERY LENIENT with replacing HDs just out 
of warranty. So...will see when I take this creature in.
