To be able to take screen snapshots you need to tell the Mac to use 2-color graphics, apparently the snapshot program does not handle more than one bit-plane. One way to do this is to go to the control-panel and select Monitors. Set the Mac to 2-color. Now the Mac will take snap-shots and store them in the usual MacPaint files named screen 0-9.
