I am very ignorant and illiterate about TeX and just began to work with it not long ago. So forgive me if the following questions sound not intelligent. 1. Where can I get a TeX package working on an PC/386 with VGA or 8514 screen previewer and HP Laserjet/HP Deskjet printer drivers? (Am I ask too much? I heard that the entire TeX is PD) 2. What is the difference between .pxl and .pk fonts? and am* and cm*? Say if I get a driver /previewer for am*.pxl only, can I use it to a document formatted with cm*.pk? and vice versa? 3. Many commercially distributed TeX packages have only limited fonts, can I directly download some fonts in UNIX and use it on a PC? 4. What are the programs "web", "tangle" and "weave" for? Is any of them available on a PC? 5. Is there any metafont program available on a PC? If I want generate a new font, what should I do? Any response will be appreciated. Please reply to this account to save bandwidth. If enough responses receive, I shall post a summary. Thanks in advance. Nan Deng lysmer@euler.berkele.edu
