By all means, go with Interleaf. The command-based formatters, including Tex, [nt]roff, and a host of variants, can't compare. The biggest comfort factor with WYSIWYG is that you're not working in the dark-- you can see what you're doing as you do it. Cost doesn't seem to be a factor for you, since you have Tex and Interleaf is on its way, and that's the only reason I can think of for not using modern software.
