(and keyboard mappings) Keywords: xterm, control sequences, modes Message-ID: <250735D4.D43@marob.masa.com> Date: 8 Sep 89 03:45:21 GMT Organization: ESCC, New York City Lines: 30 I posted a request for information about the Xterm Control Sequence manual that is mentioned in the xterm man page, but is not available with the X11R3 distribution. I received several responses, all but one of which contained the claimed that this is a "mythical" document. Fortunately, one person proved that it actually exists by sending me a copy (in troff format). I do not have it handy here on my news machine, but I'll post it if people are interested (it's about 12K). I have a related question that perhaps people could comment on. Namely, the xterm man page describes how one can dynamically change the keyboard mapping by means of a dedicated function key, but it does not make it clear if it is possible to alter the keyboard mapping my sending an escape sequence from a program, or if a keyboard mapping can be specified in the X startup file via *VT100.Translations: mapping. What I would like to do is make entries in my database (resource) file that specify xterm's with different keyboard mappings. Something like: xterm-foo*geometry: whatever xterm-foo*translations: whatever What would/can one specify in place of whatever here? Can one use escape sequences to select keyboard mappings? Thanks for any clues. Dominick Samperi Citicorp uunet!ccorp!samperi -- Dominick Samperi -- ESCC samperi@marob.masa.com uunet!hombre!samperi
