If you're using Xlib, just do several XOpenDisplay()'s, one for each server. You can provide a user interface to this on the command line, so the user can select displays. Due to bugs in X11R3, this is more difficult in Xt. I know of no public domain programs that use multiple displays right now, possibly because of the second restriction.
