    	We do not have xchess and our latest version of gnuchess is called
	revision 4-25-88.

	What are the latest version of those programs called and where can
	I find them?

I got "gnuchess-1.53.tar.Z" from the archive site "uunet.uu.net" 
through ftp. It includes gnuchess-1.53 and Xchess for X11. I 
compiled them on a IBM-RT running BSD-UNIX4.3 and X11R2. 
I have not used them intensively, but both of them seem to be 
working fine.
