I've spent a great deal of time as a result of the side effects of the kill-all-local-variables contained in c-mode. And, btw, it would be nice to add a fortran-mode-hook, in analogy to c-mode-hook. PS - I LOVE GNU Emacs! I can prototype algorithms using Emacs-Lisp, and customize my environment to maximize my productivity. I wish other software tools were as wonderful. I look forward to GNU itself reaching critical mass. (Sorry, wrong category for philosophizing, I know; I'll be quiet.)
