Rick, it was wrong for you to do that.  I don't care what the topic was, you
shouldn't have circumvented the moderator.  USENET, as I'm sure you'll agree,
has very little in the way of protection against the type of abuse you've
just committed.  Such abuse is very damaging to the cooperative spirit that
keeps the net alive, ESPECIALLY when it comes from someone of your standing
and position in the operation of the net.
