I followed the instructions, I swear I did, but it ain't working...
what could be wrong?

After deleting the required lines I did as gene instructs:

>4) "su" to root or your news user, and provide this as input to the
>inews program with the -h option; e.g., "/usr/lib/news/inews -h <thisfile"

However, inews came back with:

inews: No title, ng  from news@upaya.UUCP (news user)


Confused, I checked the man pages and tried adding a title to the 
command line with the -t switch.

inews came back with:

inews: Unknown newsgroup general
News saved in /u/news/dead.article

Now, grep on the word "general" comes back with:

misc.security		Security in general, not just computers. (Moderated)
rec.pets		Pets, pet care, and household animals in general.

Leaving me still more confused.

The last time a checkgroups message came down the pike, 
I executed it just fine.  Is my inews broken, or is there something else
that might be causing this?

Before I go recompiling news, I'd appreciate your advice...  thanks!
