Is there a quick and easy way to find out if a certain site (I'm thinking of
other universities) is connected to Usenet or major mail links?

Is there a long and difficult way?

Is there anything resembling a master list (or even haphazard database) of 
mailable sites on Internet, Bitnet, etc?

Thanks for any insight your experience may offer.
