The latest crop of HST modems actually run the carrier at 14.4 kbaud instead of 9600 baud resulting in an increase of 50% in throughput. With the modem properly configured - one should be able to get 1690 cps transfering archived files, and I've seen as high as 2510 cps sending pure text (of course with compression enabled in the modem). I keep my HST's locked at 38.4 kbaud, compression disabled and hardware flow enabled to maintain the 1690 cps rates sending archived files. -- Larry Snyder SCO Xenix 2.3.2 '386 uucp: iuvax!ndcheg!ndmath!nstar!larry The Northern Star Usenet Distribution Site HST / PEP / V.22 Notre Dame, Indiana USA Home of the fighting Irish!
