In New York City, there is a special sequence of numbers you can dial
to reach a computer which will do various things for you if you know
the codes to enter.  Among them are:

   Read back the number you called from
   Call you back (it keeps calling until you keep it off the hook
   for a while)
   etc.

I don't know if it is still in use, and I have not seen it work in any
other area, so I won't confuse anyone by mentioning it.
