Slate is distinguished by being, I think, the first commercial platform for building groupware interfaces. MediaSpace and Shared ARK at Xerox EuroPARC are two more experimental groupware systems. The following is an extract from its manual page: XSKETCH(L) LOCAL COMMANDS XSKETCH(L) NAME xsketch - multi-user sketching program for X11 SYNOPSIS xsketch [session-id] [X Toolkit options] DESCRIPTION Xsketch is a multi-user drawing program for X Windows ver- sion 11. It has facilities for drawing lines, boxes, and text. It has cut and paste facilities for editing the diagrams, either on an individual element basis, or by rec- tangular regions or (blocks). It also supports the saving and loading of images to and from disk files. Images are saved in xpic(L) compatible file format. Its main feature however is its ability to support multi-user editing ses- sions. The system was implemented as a one-shot prototype rather than generated using any sort of groupware oriented toolkit. If you are at all interested, I can send you more information including the full manual page and a (LaTeX/PostScript) project report document. ---- Jeff Lee -- jonah@db.toronto.edu or jonah@db.utoronto.ca ------------------- S U M M A R Y E N D S------------------------------ Once again Thanks a lot to all the folks who contributed.
