In article <27070@shemp.CS.UCLA.EDU> dgreen@squid.cs.ucla.edu (Dan R. Greening) writes: }I apologize for asking this again, my suspicion is that it has been }asked before. I don't mind answering this one, so go right ahead! }Is there an online, ftp-able copy of the current EDIF standard? No, for a number of reasons there is no electronic copy available, not is one anticipated. }Alternatively, how can I obtain a copy via Snail Mail? Thanks for }your help. The bound standard as well as several supporting publications can be obtained from: EIA Standards Promotions Attn: Lisa Grigg P.O. Box 57258 Washington, D.C., 20037-0258 Phone: (202)457-4962 Fax: (202)457-4985 The standard itself is out of stock until a second printing is completed. This will include corrections of typographical errors and addition of clarification text derived from the official "EDIF Questions and Answers". None of these change the substance of the standard, they only serve to correct errors in the text and to better explain things which were unclear in the first printing. We anticipate the second printing will be available by the end of November. The "EDIF Monograph" series is still available: "Introduction to EDIF", and "EDIF Connectivity", as well as the "Applications Guide to Using EDIF for Schematic Transfer". Contact EIA (above) for these. There is now a mechanism for getting officialy reviewed answers to technical questions about EDIF, as well as four volumes of questions and answers which have already been considered. For more information contact: Hilary J. Kahn Department of Computer Sciences University of Manchester Oxford Road Manchester M13 9PL United Kingdom Phone: (+44)-61-275-6156 FAX: (+44)-61-275-6280 E-mail: edif-support@ux.cs.man.ac.uk If your question is the same or similar to one asked before you will receive the text of that question and its answer for consideration. Turnaround may be several months for new questions since they must be reviewed by the entire EDIF technical committee. Finally, contact the EDIF Users' group at P.O. Box 25542 Tempe, AZ 85285-5542 For information about EDIF related conferences and talks. ADVANCE NOTICE: EDIF WORLD 1990 is scheduled to take place in New Orleans the week of Sept 9. This may change so be sure to contact the User Group for the latest information. *Mike Waters AA4MW/7 waters@dover.sps.mot.com * He played the king as if afraid someone else would play the ace. -- John Mason Brown, drama critic
